The Favorita Park
The Favorita Park is one of Palermo’s main green lungs and, together with the Chinese Pavilion (Casina Cinese), represents an ideal destination for nature and history lovers.
In 1995, the Sicilian Region established the Monte Pellegrino and Favorita Park Oriented Nature Reserve to protect local flora and fauna, including typical Mediterranean scrub vegetation, endemic orchids that bloom in spring, and several species of birds of prey nesting within the park.

The park is crossed by a historic road once used by royal carriages, now serving as a key connection between Palermo’s city center and the seaside area of Mondello. Numerous walking paths allow visitors to discover the park’s main attractions, such as the Millennial Olive Tree, the Fountain of Hercules, and the evocative Chinese Pavilion, built in Chinese style by King Ferdinand of Bourbon within his former hunting reserve.
