Cefalù: History, Art and the Sea
Cefalù is a charming medieval seaside town built on the ancient ruins of a Greek settlement.
With its millennia-old history, strong maritime culture, and deep-rooted traditions, Cefalù is an unmissable destination for anyone visiting Sicily.
The Cathedral of Cefalù, with its imposing twin towers, dominates the historic center and represents one of the most important examples of Arab-Norman architecture in Sicily.

Since 2015, it has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Walking through the historic center, we will discover picturesque views and evocative corners, including:
- the Capo Marchiafava bastion
- the ancient pre-Christian walls
- the medieval washhouse (Lavatoio Medievale)
Cefalù is also home to important noble palaces, such as Palazzo Piraino, which houses the Mandralisca Museum, home to artistic masterpieces including the famous “Portrait of an Unknown Man” by Antonello da Messina, and the Osterio Magno, the historic residence of the Ventimiglia counts.
